Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do deep tissue massage?

Yes. All of our massage services are deep tissue or are available as “deep tissue.” The difference is that we don’t have to use force to get to the deeper layers of tissue. We use heat, patience, and tools to give the most effective massage therapy we can in your session. Pain does not make treatments more effective, we promise.

Do you have an elevator?

Yes! Mythic is located in an accessible space with an elevator and our massage tables are all accessible. If you are a new client who has specific needs, please let us know so we can be sure to attend to your requests.

Do I have to take my clothes off?

No. Absolutely not. You don’t even have to lie down. We are skilled at working over clothes and with people in various positions, including seated, reclining, and side-lying.

Am I too fat for massage?

We understand that this is a hard question to ask. No, you are probably not too fat or too heavy. If you can make it into our building and office, we can accommodate you. Our electric table has a lift capacity of 600lbs and is 32” wide. We also have massage chairs with a capacity of 600lbs working weight. If these are not enough, we are also able to work on people in their wheelchairs or make other accommodations, if possible.

Do you accept insurance?

No, but we do accept Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) in addition to providing a superbill to submit for reimbursement. We have accepted insurance in the past, but the most popular insurer, Blue Cross Blue Shield, does not currently cover massage therapy in North Carolina.

Do you offer gay massage?

We are an LGBTQ-friendly practice. If you mean “can we listen to Cher during the massage,” absolutely yes. We don’t discriminate for music tastes.
However, if you are asking if we offer any kind of sexual services, the answer is a firm NO. Any attempts to receive sexual services will result in expulsion without a refund. We may also report the attempt and your information to any authorities that we are required to contact.
